Global Distribution

The Timelinx Group of Companies use several Global Distribution Systems that are standard throughout the travel industry

However we have also developed our own Global Distribution System with a difference, which is used by our associate companies and our own reservation centres.

Where our GDS system differs from any normal system is the basis on which accommodation suppliers enter their inventory. It is a fact that accommodation and tour operations work their profit and loss accounts on approximately 79% occupancy hence 20 to 21% of the inventory remains unused.

On the pretext that the accommodation suppliers have achieved their expected profit margins based on 79% occupancy, their remaining inventory was used for promotions and discount packages, based on the fact that this extra income would be 100% profit.

This, however, created a very dangerous situation because last minute discount programs, by offering the remaining unsold accommodation at vastly discounted prices, negatively affected the standard retail price market.

The result is that large portions of the general public hold back until the last minute to place their holiday bookings in the hope of a major discount. This is extremely destructive to the retail market place and because of this, last minute discounting of primary brands has been largely abandoned by the industry.

Speed & Efficiency

The TimeLinx Global Distribution System allows accommodation providers such as hotels, resorts, villas and tour operators to enter their availability directly into our system which facilitates arranging reservations with greater speed and efficiency.

Total control of pricing and availability

The Timelinx Global Distribution System provides the accommodation suppliers and tour operators a platform where they freely enter their remaining availability, being totally in control of managing its price and availability, they are able to sell it through the system without any marketing costs to produce higher occupancy rates.

Timelinx then uses this highly discounted availability to service various Holiday Clubs that consist of members who have all paid a premium to join the clubs and hence are not considered to be the general public.

This results in the accommodation suppliers having the ability to sell their remaining availability at highly discounted rates, achieve a much higher than normal occupancy rate and the system does not affect their retail price because Timelinx does not show these special prices to the general public. Needless to say we normally sign contracts stating we will not give the availability to the general public and that it will be used for members only, A WIN, WIN Situation for everyone!
